The show starts with Alice and Trixie discussing the health problems of Alice's mom's dog,
ginger. Alice took the Ginger to the vet becuse of some health issues. The vet agreed
to send the results to Alice via messanger, not mail, because Ralph woud not approve
of Alice taking Ginger to the vet.
Ralph and Norton enter the apartment. Alice goes to the roof to get wash, and Trixie
returns to her apartment to finish cooking Norton's supper. Ralph tells Norton that he
had a doctors appointment because he has been constantly feeling tired. A knock is heard
at the door, and a messenger wants to deliver an envelope to "Mrs. Kramden only". After a
fuss, the messanger gives the report to Ralph. Not knowing that he is reading Ginger's
diagnosis, Ralph reads that the dog only has six months to live. Naturally, Ralph thinks
the report refers to him.
Ralph decides to make out a will, and in the process, realizes that he has no wordly
possessions to leave to Alice. Norton gives him the idea to sell the store to a magazine,
then leave the money to Alice after he dies.
Scene 2 starts shows Ralph and Norton at the magazine agency trying to persuade two producers
to buy the story. One producer does not like the story, but the other thinks that it could
be just what they need. Ralph shows the producers the report, and they agree to buy the
story. The plan is to follow Ralph until he dies.
Scene 3 is back in Ralph's apartment. Alice enters the apartment irate because of the
magaine story. Ralph tries to convince Alice that he does only have six months to leave. When
Alice refuses to beleive him, Ralph pulls out the report. As Alice reads, she starts laughing,
and explains the mix-up. Ralph realizes that he has now unintentionally committed fraud, and
will go to jail for twenty years. Norton enters the apartment, and Ralph explains the whole
mix-up. Ralph then devises a scheme where a doctor has read his story in the magazine, comes
to Ralph to treat his rare disease, and cures him. Ralph asks Norton to play the part of the
doctor, and of course, he does.
Scene 4 is back in the magazine company with both Ralph and Norton and one of the magazine
producers. Ralph explains that Dr. Norton is curing him and that he is not going to die after
six months afterall. The producer is overjoyed, and then wants to do a story about Dr. Norton
the following week. Upon further questioning, the producer figures out that Norton is not a
doctor, and Ralph finally comes clean about the whole mix-up.
